Getting Divorced?
My firms offers a number of choices with regards to your funding these are as follows:
1. Free Interview
We have a specialist Family Law Shop that runs every Friday between 11 am and 1 pm, there are therefore four half hour interviews available. The interview is completely free and you will be seen by a qualified solicitor, either Liz Hulme, Mena Ruparel or Fiona Connah. There is no obligation to continue to instruct the Firm after the interview but of course if you choose to do so information will be given to you on the day. There is no guarantee that you will see me on the day.
2. Divorce Checking Service
This is an entirely new service offered from the 6th April 2011. I are happy to provide a service whereby we check the Divorce Petition that you have drafted together with the supporting documents and the Statement of Arrangements for Children, if there are any children. I do not undertake any drafting during this appointment, if you decide that you need to use my services further I will give you a costs estimate for further work on the day. The charge for the Divorce Checking Service is £250 including VAT for that meting and the advice given during it. There is further advice about drafting your own divorce documents in the VIDEO section of this site.
3. Fixed Fee Divorce
I offer a Fixed Fee Divorce Service whereby I will charge you a fixed fee of £1500 to undertake a standard undefended Divorce. The cost includes both VAT and disbursements, (there are two Court fees to pay to the Court on filing the Petition, £340 in the first instance and £45 to obtain the Decree Absolute). The costs of the Divorce will be charged so that you pay £500 upfront (to incorporate the first Court issue fee) and thereafter the firm would expect you to pay £200 per month for a further 5 months to cover the costs of the Divorce, I estimate that by the time that you are in a position to obtain the Decree Absolute your costs will be paid.
If it becomes apparent during the proceedings that the other party will:
A. Defend the proceedings, or
B. Files an Answer to the proceedings with or without filing
C. A Cross Petition
The costs will change because this necessarily involves an additional element of work.
4. Bespoke Divorce Service
I can offer you a Divorce Service either as a Respondent or a Petitioner which is based upon our hourly rate. You will be charged the hourly rates for all work done by me, including meetings, telephone appointments, letters and emails sent and received.
This service is likely to be useful for:-
1.) Respondents who only wish to obtain some advice about the Divorce and progress of the case throughout,
2.) Respondents who want to make an application for the Decree Absolute in circumstances where the Petitioner has not done so,
3.) Those parties who are involved in disputed, contested or defended Divorces.
4.) Anyone who wishes to receive a bespoke service for their case
Obviously I will be able to offer an estimate of costs but it would very much depend on the specific circumstces of the case.
If you would like to instruct me through my Firm on any one of the above then please contact the my PA, Pauline Bridges.
